Florida Vacation!!!!!

We had such a fantastic vacation!!!!!! We went to Saint George Island to Matt's parents beach house. We go every year, and every year it is wonderful!!!! This year was one of the best because both girls were old enough to really enjoy the beach, pool, and yummy seafood.
Grandmama and Alyssa!!

We had such a blast at the beach each day. It was CRAZY hot in Florida, but when you are at the beach the breeze makes it feels a lot cooler. The girls love collecting seashells, building sand castles, and making sand pies. Skyler absolutely loved riding her bike to the beach everyday! She thought she was hot stuff heading to the beach on her own :)! The most popular activity at the beach this year was collecting and watching the coquinas. These are really small shells that wash up to shore with the waves. You must grab them quickly because they bury themselves in the sand. It's similar to a small clam shell, but it's fun to watch them. We were able to see a lot of sea creatures while at the beach. Matt took his net out daily to see what he could catch. He caught multiple crab (beautiful blue and red) and jelly fish. We also saw a couple of stingrays passing by. Unfortunately Matt got stung by a jellyfish, but the pain only lasted about 15 minutes. We had to pleasure of seeing a lot of Dolphins swimming by.

Matt in the waves!

Grandad in the waves!

The pool is always a great treat for the afternoon. We spent most mornings at the beach. We returned to the house for lunch and rest. Followed by a relaxing afternoon at the pool. Skyler loved the fact that we would frequently find small crabs in the pool. Alyssa recently started using arm floaties. She is doing amazing!!!! She wants and needs no help to travel all over the pool! My girls LOVE the water!

The girls relaxing!

It was a special treat to have Michael, Michelle, Sean and Emma (Matt's brother and family) join us for one day before we left. All the cousins has a blast playing with each other! The ages consist of 1,2 ,3, and 6. Lots of fun!!

Such cute little shiny heineys!!

The seafood is always one of my favorite parts. I think I ate my body weight in Oysters. They are always so delicious there! Skyler actually ate 3 Oysters while we were there. She claims to like them, but I'm not convinced!! I also had some yummy gator!!!! Matt embarked on the "all you can eat crab legs". Needless, to say we were at that restaurant for awhile.

The absolute BEST part of the yearly Saint George Island vacation is getting to see Papa. It's truly special to get to let the girls see their Great Grandfather! They love him......as does every child he has ever met!

CORRECTION.......Matt's birthday is July 6th!!! Oops :)

Matt's 31st Birthday!!!!

Matt's birthday was May 6th. It was a terrific day. We started off by making him breakfast. He wanted eggs, sausage, and biscuits so that is what he got. We relaxed most of the day. Followed by dinner at Tokyo Japanese Steak house. Very yummy!!! Chinese and Japanese food are Matt's favorite type of food. When we came home we had cake and sang Happy Birthday. Matt's request for cake is the same EVERY year - ice cream cake!!!!!! He will always be a kid at heart :)

4th of July

Well the 4th of July was a blast!!! We spent the weekend wake boarding, skiing, eating, doing fireworks, and more eating! It was a great time! Skyler is getting GREAT at skiing!!! She does a great job! But when she is done, or if we go too far into the lake she jumps off!!! She is now doing tricks on the ski's. She waves, gives a peace sign, shakes her bootie, and sings. Matt and I are both getting better at wake boarding. However, you have to love when a teenager comes by jumping about 3 feet in the air and all the way across the wake. They must have a much better board than we do - hahahaha!

That night we did some wonderful fireworks and caught lightning bugs. Skyler loved catching the lightning bugs and putting them in a jar. Alyssa loved to watch from a distance. We put the lightning bugs in the refrigerator overnight. In the morning you take them out and they wake up and fly away. The girls loved to watch. Alyssa wasn't sure about fireworks. She absolutely did not like any that made a loud noise. The others she watched from the cracks between her fingers while covering her eyes. Overall, the girls really loved it!!!

We had a great 4th of July!!! Can't wait until next year!!
